Blurb: Marrying Mr. English is the seventh of seven books about the English family.
You’ve all met the children and Eleanora and Tom English…but how exactly did down-on-her luck waitress, Eleanora Watters, met trust fund hottie, Tom English?
You won’t want to miss this Christmas novel in two parts (each a complete novella – the first is a “Happily for now” ending and the second is a “Happily ever after” ending) that tells the story of how Eleanora met Tom, while he was visiting Vail in the 1980s.

The first novella, Marrying Mr. English, Part 1, is included in the 12 Christmas Romances to Melt Your Heart anthology, which features twelve brand-new books and the proceeds of which will benefit The Autism Society of America.

My Thoughts:
Lines from a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning appears in the story at important places – think new beginnings. ‘Between a dream and a miracle’ – it’s my favorite line from the story. For me it sums up the plot; which is all too familiar in Cinema as well as in real life. Boy meets Girl, a stranger, there is attraction between them and a deal is made. They get married for a certain period of time while he gains access to his inheritance, post which she takes her cut and they divorce. Where all such clichés end up as a mere mercenary transaction, there are some who turn into miracles. This story doesn’t end up as a transaction or in divorce; the young couple throw caution to the wind and tempt fate to find their happily ever after together. You may say they are fools to give up the money for love. Now, I agree money helps creating a HEA but it only helps. What makes the money and the relationship work is the emotions and efforts of the people involved. The young couple in this story start their life together rebelling against the family with only love for each other. What remains to be seen is does Love create new horizons for them or it fizzles out. I have high hopes for Mr. and Mrs. English which I will fulfill by reading Marrying Mr. English, Part 2, releasing on 12/18.

The story is set in the beginning of 1980’s and gives a beautiful glimpse into how it was for that generation. It gives me a feeling that the girls back then were different than now and in some ways, similar too. The ways of love might have advanced or transformed to an extent but the essence remains unchanged. Such stories give hope and makes the listener/reader wish for their own miracles. Katy has captured this emotion beautifully and I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Tidbit: This story will give you an idea of how the the English brothers were named. Now if you are a fan of the gorgeous bunch of English brothers, you should pick up this novella immediately; to see how it all began for their parents.

At the time of this post, Marrying Mr. English part 1 which is part of the 12 Christmas romances to melt your heart anthology, is priced at $1.02/ 99 p/Rs.66.

At these prices it’s a steal and you get 11 other heart melting stories with it.

My favorite Lines from the story
You cannot guess what you are to me—you cannot—it is not possible:—and though I have said that before,
I must say it again . . . for it comes again to be said.
It is something to me between dream and miracle, all of it—as if some dream of my earliest brightest dreaming-time had been lying through these dark years to steep in the sunshine, returning to me in a double light.
Can it be, I say to myself, that you feel for me so? can it be meant for me? . . . Could it be that heart and life were devastated to make room for you?”
“They leave the ground fallow before the wheat,”…

I would love for you to know Katy, read her brilliant writing and be part of her Facebook group. For more details on all visit her website.
