Bad Boys after Dark: Mick by Melissa Foster, Book Review

Melissa Foster, I have been reading her books for quite some time now and this is only the first time I am doing a blog review of her book. Today I have a review of her newly released – Bad Boys after Dark: Mick. Book 1, though can be read as a standalone, in the Bad Boys series, stories of 4 brothers whose last name happen to be Bad. 😉 cheeky I know right.

The review is also for Rock Star PR Blog Tours.

Story:

Indulge your inner vixen…
You asked for naughtier lovers, with the same fierce loyalty as The Bradens – Meet the Bad Boys… Four sinfully sexy, uber alpha brothers, about to fall head over heels for their leading ladies.

Everything’s naughtier after dark…
Amanda Jenner is done being a boring-man magnet and has finally taken control of her love life. As any smart paralegal would, she’s researched the hell out of how to seduce a man. She’s waxed, primped, and ready to put her newfound skills into action–and a masquerade bar crawl is the perfect venue for her solo coming-out party.

Entertainment attorney Mick Bad lives by two hard and fast rules. He never mixes business with pleasure, and he doesn’t do relationships, which makes the anonymity of a masquerade bar crawl the perfect place for a onetime hookup.

Amanda thinks she’s hit the jackpot when she bags a tall, dark, and sinfully delicious masked man–until she discovers the man she’s made out with is her off-limits boss. Mick’s already crossed a line he can never uncross, and one taste of sweet and sexy Amanda has only whet his appetite. When Mick offers to give Amanda a lesson in seduction–no strings, no regrets, and for goodness’ sake, come Monday, no quitting–the tables turn, and Mick’s totally unprepared for the lessons this sweet temptress provides.

Professions of Main Characters: Entertainment Lawyer extraordinaire and Paralegal.

My Thoughts:

Mick Bad, is a modern day bad boy. For me a modern day bad boy is one with a dark, brooding and sexy exterior with a golden, sweet heart; at least this is how they are in my experience and from the fictional ones I’ve come across. And I ain’t complaining; they make life interesting and never let you wonder about the boring bits. There is at least 1 relationship in our lives where passion, lust, love and emotions rule us. Where we are so consumed by the object of our affection that it gets difficult to see things straight or restrain ourselves especially when we have labeled that person as forbidden for whatever reasons. Mick Bad and Amanda Jenner work together and have been secretly yearning for each other for the 3 years they have worked together. All that yearning has set Amanda on the path to find her inner temptress and find a man who will temporarily satisfy here since Mick is off limits. Mick Bad has emotional scars from grieving the loss of an ideal family unit and has sworn off Love and all that comes with it. He drowns his pain in meaningless one night stands; which is what brings Amanda bang in from of him, served delectably on a platter at a masquerade ball. While Amanda is there to test waters and find Mick’s replacement, Mick is there to forget a terrible week; by the time they realize who is behind the mask, they have shared some searing hot kisses.

What happens next will keep you on the edge of the seat and make you weak at the knees as Mick and Amanda discover each other and decide to have a no strings weekend together promising each other adamantly that come Monday things go back to normal. A weekend filled with not only some hot, sizzling action between the sheets and everywhere possible but also some soul bearing emotional moments. Over the weekend away, Mick and Amanda know each and every thing there is to know about each other, physically and emotionally. They push themselves to experience not only physical pleasure but also emotionally free themselves and bare their souls to each other. They upset, love, sadden, satisfy and make each other laugh and come Monday go their separate ways only to realize what they mean to each other. What happens next is Mick doing everything he swore off and sees him making the sweetest, most romantic gesture which won him a big kiss from me.

What I absolutely loved about this story is how love and lust together conquered and won bringing Mick and Amanda together for a HEA. The chemistry and friendship they share is no doubt easy, intense at times and swoon worthy. There is some much needed sass and humor too to lighten the serious moments. Mick’s caring, sensitive attitude towards Amanda makes him perfect partner material and extremely lovable. Amanda’s innocence and strength makes her a perfect match to Mick and an inspiring heroine. The supporting characters have an appearance but since the major story is over a weekend, they play their roles nicely and since I recognize them from the author’s other stories it was fun meeting them here.

Overall, Mick’s story is fun, sexy, sweet and definitely high on the emotions and swoon scale.
