Here it is, the 1st #bookreview of 2017 on the Blog. A love story I picked up as I loved the last book the author Ruchita Misra wrote – Second chances at Love.
Title: Someone to Love
Author: Ruchita Misra
Publisher: Harlequin (HarperCollins India)
Publication date: 5 Jan 2017
Location: Bhopal,India and London,England.
Not everyone is lucky enough to find this kind of love. Koyal and Atharv are childhood friends. They are also soulmates. Confidantes. Kindred spirits. They are made for each other – only, neither of them seems to have figured it out just yet. As they grow into adulthood, they turn to each other in sorrow and joy, only becoming closer. But then one day, something happens and their rare friendship is cruelly transformed into something a lot like hatred. Atharv, scarred and hurt, fumes with anger, while impetuous Koyal presses the self-destruct button.
Years later, just when they’ve both found peace within themselves, their paths cross again. And destiny, that strange creature, has a few tricks up her sleeve. Will these two ever forgive each other? Or have they already lost their one chance to find someone to love?
A couple of close childhood friends separated due to college, new friends and some cunning selfish new love interests. Atharva is the quintessential tall, dark, handsome, kind and dreamy guy. Koyal is a fiery, stubborn and passionate girl who looses her way when separated from her buddy Atharva.
Now there is all kinds of love, care and need between these two. But life has other plans, after her sudden, unexplained exit from Atharva’s life and the city she’s called home since a baby, Koyal changes. What happens next is emotionally tough on both friends and more so for Koyal untill self realisation dawns and she takes destiny in her own hands. While Koyal reclaims her life, Atharva is still searching for answers, to the thing that made his best friend, love of his life disappear from his life. Years later, a chance meeting brings them face to face and starts them on a path they were meant to be on always.
What I liked about this story:
1: An emotional tale weaved by the author, no doubt a tear jerker, full of passion and longing.
2: The story has an easy flow, no loose ends basically a well narrated story.
3: The characters were passionate, strong, sharp and likeable, none of them dull and had enough depth in their personal narrations to hold my attention.
What nagged me about the story.
Well, the story reminded me of the Bollywood movie Kuch Kuch hota hai. The book covered things the movie kind of missed, in the sense it had more depth and situations which made it more realistic and less fairytale.
Overall I had a nice time reading Someone to Love.
