Story

Fighting Irish, The Summerhaven Trio #1

Rory Haven and Brittany Manion knew one another as children…

…but it’s been a long time since their childhood summers at Summerhaven.

The Havens weren’t the children who attended exclusive Summerhaven Camp in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, expected to “pull their weight” and absolutely forbidden to fraternize with the paying guests. But that didn’t keep Rory from having a quiet, unrequited crush on gorgeous, popular, insanely-rich, Brittany Manion for three tortuous summers.

When all-grown-up, recently-engaged Brittany books the off-season summer camp for her upcoming spring wedding, she immediately recognizes Rory as the scorching-hot boy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. While Rory, who senses that Brittany’s nuptials are less about Mr. Right and more about Mr. Right Now, launches the fight of his life to win the heart of the girl he’s always wanted.

My thoughts

This is the sweetest yet intensely hot at times story of all Katy’s books. There is heart and family at the Centre of this story.

Roy is one of the Haven triplets and Brittany, an only child, our lead characters have known each other as teenagers, a formidable time of their lives. Their story comes a full round when they re met after a decade of knowing each other.

Will they acknowledge and make sure not to let go of each other this time or the past rules stop them again. That’s what our Fighting Irish, Rory, will take us through in this beautiful story.

Brittany is a such a warm character, but if you meet her you wouldn’t see all her great qualities at first sight. As I got to know her in this story I had a change of mind about her being an only child, an heiress. However, what I found was a better, different side of a person who is an only child.

Usually I am not a fan of people who are only children as I my experience they aren’t very accommodating. That’s my experience, please don’t get all agitated at that, there will be some fantastic people who are an only child I just haven’t met or known of them.

So yeah, Brittany is well adjusted, grounded, fun and caring person who deserves what she dreams of; it just so happens that our Irish hunk is exactly the one to provide wings to her dreams of a warm, loving family.

Rory, is a stickler for rules, specifically the ones his mother dictated. He wouldn’t dream of breaking them, he may not completely agree with them but he wouldn’t break them. He is responsible, great at his work and loves with passion and that sparkling Irish twinkle. I liked how he is responsible towards his family yet also loyal to his own dreams by holding on to them and waiting for the right time to fulfill them.

Personally he is the heart and emotional soul of his family, a calm in the storm of ups and downs of their lives. So it was not surprising however completely touching and heart warming to see him soothe and love Brittany.

This is a fairly quick read with enough depth to make it a great read. I loved the triplets and looking forward to read about them finding their own way in life.
