My thoughts
I met Drew and Isla in Love Heart Lane along with some lovely characters. So, I was excited to know them up close. In Foxglove Farm, Drew and Isla’s house, an active farm we get to experience their personal, family dynamic. With a small kid, a new born and the ever present trials at a farm things are tense between the couple. The story revolves around secrets Drew’s keeping from Isla, personal, farm related and overall.
With secrets unraveling things come to a head when lightning strikes a barn in the farm and there’s damage. Soon, Drew and Isla reveal it all to each other and move towards righting the wrongs and getting their life and farm back on track.
I enjoyed meeting familiar characters and their friendships were heartwarming as in the other story. With Drew and Isla, however, I was underwhelmed. Their story was rushed, and with the kind of issues they were experiencing it felt all of it was put right with a magic wand. It felt too easy and simple.
I wanted more of their struggle and how they worked with each other. The personal dynamic of the couple, of a relationship in trouble was what I wanted to be at the Centre. However, since it takes a village to run a smooth family, that’s what I got instead.
