Hello dear readers, bookworms and anyone reading this. Today’s book review is for The Neighbours by Nicola Gill. Happy Reading and Discovering new stories.
Some women have it all. Others are thirty-four and rent a tiny flat alone because they recently found their long-term boyfriend in bed with their boss. Ginny Taylor is certain her life can’t get any worse. But then she meets her downstairs neighbour…
Cassie Frost was once a beloved actress, but after a recent mishap she desperately needs a new publicist. And Ginny is a publicist who desperately needs a job – but can she be persuaded to work for the prickly woman who lives below her floorboards?
Ginny and Cassie are two very different women, but they have more in common than they’d care to imagine (or admit). And when their worlds collide, they realise that sometimes – just sometimes – bad neighbours become good friends…
A funny, honest and moving exploration of life, love, friendship and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of your thirties… and beyond. Perfect for fans of Beth O’Leary’s The Flatshare and Ruth Jones’s Never Greener.
The Neighbours, story of Ginny, Cassie and the people who come and go in their life. Ginny works in PR while Cassie is an infamous actress.
Ginny is a mellow, keeping her head down type of personality. Cassie comes across as arrogant and unsympathetic of people in general. Living in the same apartment building their paths rarely cross but when they do an unlikely friendship is formed between the two. Cassie trying to bring up Ginny by almost forcing her to work for her.
Ginny reluctantly agrees to help Cassie bring her media personality in good light. Half way through the story its almost role reversal and Ginny ends up helping Cassie through a dark time.
What I enjoyed in the story –
1 – The dynamic between lead characters Ginny and Cassie. Their conversations felt like a friendly hug, comforting, fun and like little reality checks.
2 – The premise of the story is based on life, Neighbours, friendship with Love and Romance making friendly appearances.
I enjoyed reading the story, It’s perfect to read on a rainy day, a quite day in, or for some me time when your friends are away and you need something to comfort you and feel happy.
