Josh Nightingale has always been married to his books. Happy to run his bookshop in the small town of Castle Clare, he’s never really had time for romance and truly believes that he’s never going to fall in love. But, when April Channing opens a new shop opposite his, everything changes.
Sweet and attentive one moment, abrupt and aloof the next, Josh really can’t understand April at all. What exactly is going on? Josh is pretty sure that the answer can’t be found in a book.
Josh and April’s story in Scenes from a Country Bookshop is about two introverts who cautiously come out of their shell and fall for each other. I enjoyed the characters introvert nature. The compassion Josh had for April and how she deals with her imminent blindness.
Overall Scenes from a Country Bookshop sweetly summarizes the story of all the Nightingale siblings with Josh finally falling in love and snippets from the other 4 siblings happily ever afters.
Things I like in the series –
- The family owned bookshops,
- The siblings bond and how they support their love lives all in good banter,
- The famous Sunday Lunches to introduce your significant others,
- The quirky supporting character like Flo, Winston, Delilah the dog and
- the love for books shining through all the characters.
